The therapist you come to for straight answers & practical support

I’m an individual and couples therapist serving adults in Virginia who are looking for an inclusive therapist to talk to free of judgment. Whether that’s for grief, identity questions, relationship issues, job loss, old trauma, or plain uncertainty about “what now?”

We start by putting the real issue into plain words. Then, using solid evidence as our guide, we pick one small, doable change to test before we meet again. Clients tell me they come back because our sessions feel like a natural conversation: we name the problem in ordinary language and come up with common-sense solutions.

My background & credentials (AKA, the boring stuff)

I’ve spent the past 15+ years working with clients, teaching graduate students, and supervising counselors in training, and those in their residency. I earned my master’s in counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, completed the coursework and training for a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision, and hold board approval to supervise in Virginia.

I’ve also trained in the Gottman Method for couples work and have extensive experience with gender-affirming care and LGBTQ+ issues. While evidence-based methods inform my work, I’ll always explain the research (or at least give you the short version) behind what we’re trying.

Who I am as a person, not just a therapist

Outside the office, life is happily low-key. I share a house with my partner in Richmond and a rotating committee of opinionated cats and dog who believe they run the place (they’re not wrong).

Weekends usually mean a loaf of bread proofing on the counter, watching baseball, and my nose in a mystery novel or therapy research paper. Those small, ordinary routines keep me grounded and present – so when we sit down to do the hard work, you have my full attention.
